Who We Are
The Newcomer Knowledge Hub (the K-Hub) is a partnership between Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) and the University of Calgary (UCalgary), Faculty of Social Work.
The K-Hub aims to improve the settlement system in Canada by developing and piloting a way to translate data into knowledge to identify newcomer needs, track emerging trends, reduce program duplication, and improve support services for all newcomers.

In August 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced an urgent commitment to resettle 40,000 Afghan nationals. This ambitious national response required unprecedented coordination across the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) sector, which at the time consisted of 34 service provider organizations across Canada. The Newcomer Knowledge Hub is honoured to work on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
